Getting to the Region

ToorCamp is located at Doe Bay Resort on Orcas Island, WA. The closest major airports to the Anacortes Ferry Terminal are Seattle Paine Field International Airport (PAE) (~1 hour away), Bellingham International Airport (BLI) (~1 hour away), Seattle/Tacoma International Airport (SEA) (~2 hours away), and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) (~2+ hours by car and border crossing). From Anacortes, it can then take up to 90 minutes to get to Orcas Island on the ferry and then another 45-minute drive from the ferry terminal to Doe Bay Resort.

Getting to ToorCamp

Once in the region, there are a number of ways to get to ToorCamp. Here are a few options to get started, please add more as you come across them.

By Land

Personal Vehicle + Ferry

Most people will be arriving in a car. Make sure to make a Ferry Reservation ahead of time or you could be waiting multiple hours or days to get across.

TIP: Ferry reservations for June 26th open after March 9th. If you need a spot, 30% of the pool is released 2 weeks before the sailing date and another 30% 2 days before. They're released at 7am, so make sure to set an alarm (or script your botnet) and book immediately at 7am to guarantee a spot! This is what we all end up doing so prepare to do a lot of refreshing and make an account ahead of time.

Public Transportation + Ferry

There is a Shuttle Bus from Seattle/SEATAC to Anacortes. Reservations are required via Bellair Charters and Airporter. They also pick up in Bellingham, though the route may need a connection to get from the I-5 corridor to the Anacortes Ferry Terminal.

Alternatively, FlixBus goes as far as Mount Vernon, WA, which is a 1 hour bus ride or a 35 minute uber from Anacortes.

There's rarely any wait to get on the ferry as a walk-on. Bikes are also accepted on the ferry for an additional fee. [citation needed, this is true on other WA ferries].

Short-Term Car Rental + Ferry

Enterprise has a location in Anacortes, enabling a one-day/one-way car reservation from SeaTac airport or where every you are coming from. It's a 10 minute drive from there to the ferry terminal. Maybe someone who is driving their personal vehicle would be willing to shuffle you over.

Once on the island, Orca Shuttle rides between the ferry landing and multiple stops on the island including Doe Bay from 8AM until 11PM daily. For early-morning or later-evening pick-ups, there is taxi service on the island to take you to and from Doe Bay – (360)-376-TAXI. It is also possible to rent cars on the island, with free drop-off and pick-ups at the ferry dock if arranged in advance – Orcas Island Shuttle (360)-376-RIDE.

The Victoria Clipper travels from Seattle to San Juan Island daily during the summer time. From San Juan Island you can walk on to the inter island ferry to Orcas landing. It would take at least a half day, but might be an enjoyable way to travel if you enjoy boat rides.

Doe Bay Resort has two private mooring buoys that require mooring fees to dock and would require using a small watercraft to get to the beach. Call their front desk at 360-376-2291 to inquire.

There are also other water taxi services that can be chartered for those wishing to park on the mainland and boat directly to the resort. If you are interested in this option, please post to the ToorCamp Google Group.
