We're trying to organize campsites similar to the German and Dutch hacker camps. The basic idea is that all of the camps are self-organized and ToorCamp will just provide the basic infrastructure.
ToorCamp will provide many of the basic hacker camp comforts such as: Power and Internet.
And some of the less-essential comforts such as: Food, Water, and Toilets.
We will also be providing optional cabins for people to stay in if they don't want to camp in tents. To book a cabin, yurt, geodesic dome, or reserved campsite from doebay.com, we'll be emailing registered attendees on January 4th, 2016 a code that can be used to book cabins during the ToorCamp dates at a discount.
We'd like to note that the power that we'll be providing will be limited and will only be run to campsites that request it. Due to the number of people that will be showing up it looks like on-site utility power might not be enough to cover everything so we have to be selective as far as which areas receive power and how many generators to rent.
In general, we hope that everyone attending will treat this just like a camping in the woods type of event. Bring enough supplies for yourself and make sure you have shelter during the day. The area should be around 50-75 degrees and sunny during this time of the year but it's definitely a good idea to set up shade structures in your camp. The area also has a fairly low amount of wind (3mph avg, 10mph max) so be careful of the structures that you make but it definitely won't be as much as a problem as the first ToorCamp.
We're still in the middle of working out all of the insurance for the event which will probably end up changing our general rules but this is what are current policies are:
|Power||Power that we'll be providing will be limited and will only be run near campsites that specifically request it. Due to the number of people that will be showing up it looks like on-site utility power might not be enough to cover everything so we have to be selective as far as which areas receive power and how many generators to rent. We will also have a recharging area for people to recharge their laptops/phones/etc.|
|Internet||The facility has an existing internet connection that we will use to blanket the whole area with Wifi.|
|Food||We encourage people to bring their own food and provide food for the people staying at their campsite. There are very nice grocery stores on the island on the way to the camp. Whole Foods Quality and Whole Foods prices. We will be providing on-site food sales for people who don't make use of their campsite's food or don't want to bring out food supplies. We will be posting more information about our vendors closer to the event. Doe Bay also has an amazing restaurant that will be open throughout the event.
For small groups that don't have a cabin with a kitchen, there is a guest kitchen at the resort where you can cook meals. This facility is self regulated, please clean up after yourself.
|Beverages and More||There are no restrictions on Alcohol at Doe Bay and Cannabis is legal in Washington. Please be mindful of your surroundings and fellow campers.|
|Water||There is running water in some of the cabins and the camping areas have shower and washroom facilities where you can fill up if you need more water.|
|Toilets/Showers||Some of the cabins have their own toilets and/or showers and the camping areas have shower and washroom facilities that are open for us to use.|
|Parking||We will be providing limited parking near the campsites but for logistical reasons we would request that vehicles that park near the campsite only leave when the camp is over. If you are planning on needing to head into town to get supplies, please leave a car parked in one of the parking lots near the road.|
|Fire/Safety||We are working with the resort and our fire marshal to determine where we can have campsites and will post our policy once it's determined.|
We're looking for campsite organizers that can help out by taking charge of parts of the camp. Campsites that have at least 10 occupants will be given a 10% discount on admission for everyone registered for the campsite. Part of being a campsite organizer is helping fellow campers get shelter, community food, throwing parties, and possibly organizing group transportation out to the camp. The 10% discount refund can be given back to the campsite organizer to help fund these types of things, can be refunded to all of the campsite inhabitants, or donated to the ToorCon Foundation.
To sign up for being a campsite organizer, please fill out the form here.

We're working on updating the map to reflect 2018, but the general areas will be similar to 2016.
