Two Wheeled Toor Camp
So far there two people (Ken C. and Rubin of Noisebridge) scheduled to depart Seattle Monday morning June 29th. We plan to arrive sometime Wednesday. Its getting close, but its not too late to join us if you already have gear. Email ken At ipl31 d0t net.
The Route
Option 1 AKA The route
So the route would leave Seattle on the I-90 bike trail. Once we get to North Bend we would hit the John Wayne Pionneer Trail an old rail road trail complete with two mile tunnel. Tunnel currently closed due to safety reasons.
Instead of taking the tunnel (closed) we are going to take a detour via Tinkham Road, which will take us on scenic ride up through the pass. After the Summit we can get back on the John Wayne/Pioneer Trail.
Note: Currently the route mostly revolves around the trail. Depending on how hard the riding is on the trail, we have the option of getting of onto I90 or frontage and back roads.
For more information on the route please see this map:

Crossing the Columbia: Crossing the bridge on I90 is very sketchy. The once sidewalk has been replaced with a guard rail. Its very narrow, windy and uphill crossing the bridge. There are currently a handful of people that will be crossing the bridge at various times during our journey. Our current plan is to text them all on arrival and hopefully one will be close enough to shuttle us over the bridge within an hour or two. If not we will hitch hike across the bridge.
Option 2
We go a northern route somewhere along Highway 2 and cross the Columbia in Wenatchee (this crossing has a bike path) and then head south. One major benefit of this route is that crossing the columbia is much easier. Con is that its more mileage.
Gear
Bike: Road/Touring or Mountain Bike should be fine
Tires: It looks like a minimum of 30c tires for roadies but probably a little wider for safe measure. Almost any MTB tire should be fine.
We will be on a trail for 100 miles or so. See this thread for more information and thoughts on tire size.
Things To Do
- Determine Final Route w/regards to Columbia
- Arrange ride back to Seattle on Sunday
